Choose a name that works beyond an advertisement
Customers should be able to type the name after hearing it or reading it on packaging. Consider abbreviations, hyphens and likely spelling mistakes before buying. A short form of your brand may be easier to remember than a string of keywords.
Technical availability does not establish trademark rights. Check that your chosen name represents your business without creating confusion with other businesses. ITDomain search checks availability; assignment happens only after registration is accepted.
What you need to connect your store
Your domain and ecommerce platform are separate services. A platform such as Shopify supplies instructions for connecting an external domain; a WooCommerce shop also depends on WordPress hosting. The shop plan, HTTPS certificate and store configuration are not included in domain pricing.
With ITDomain managed nameservers, enter the records supplied by your platform. Alternatively, choose external nameservers where supported and correctly configured. Preserve email MX and TXT records before changing delegation so the shop and email continue to reach their respective services.
- Choose the primary domain and www variant in your platform.
- Save existing DNS records before editing them.
- Check HTTPS, the cart and email after connecting.
A .it domain and your store’s visibility
The .it extension identifies the country associated with the domain and can make an Italy-focused project easier to recognise. It does not guarantee Google positions, sales or traffic. Useful product pages, clear navigation and original content still matter to the shop.
Buying the domain separately lets you retain the name when changing platforms. A hosting move needs the replacement service configured; transferring the registrar does not copy products, orders or customer records. Plan those tasks before moving an operating store.
