A domain and a mailbox do different jobs
The domain is the name after the @ sign. The mailbox is the service that receives and sends email at an address on that domain. Buying the domain alone does not automatically create a mailbox and does not include Italian certified email, or PEC.
Buy an available domain using its registrant’s details. Once registration is active, open Email in your account and choose the mailbox, display name and billing plan. Email activation has its own order and is not added to domain checkout by default.
What a .it domain and email cost
A standard domain costs €8.99 total for year one; subsequent renewal is €11.99 total per year. Each 15 GB mailbox costs €2.70 total monthly or €29.70 total yearly. The yearly mailbox plan saves €2.70 compared with twelve monthly payments.
One annual domain and one annual mailbox cost €38.69 total for the first twelve months of the two services, purchased separately. At current prices, a later domain renewal year plus the same yearly mailbox costs €41.69 total. Each additional mailbox has its own cost.
Connect email without disrupting other services
Website and email use different DNS records. MX records identify the destination for incoming messages; SPF, DKIM and DMARC help declare and verify the domain’s senders. Use the exact values supplied for your service and retain records needed by the website.
You can keep an existing email provider. Transferring a domain does not copy messages from old mailboxes, so plan any mail and contact migration before changing services. Keep old MX records until the replacement service is ready.
